Naming the Pain – The Myths You’ve Been Living

Life is a quiet struggle. On the outside, you look steady – even successful, maybe the world labels you a helper. But beneath the surface, there’s another story being told: one with a restless mind, a tense body, and a heart heavy with grief. Your shoulders ache under invisible burdens, and the tIghtness in your stomach speaks louder than words ever could. 

But the words hurt too. Like a drill sergeant that is never satisfied, you bombard yourself with what could have been better, and what should already be happening, but is not.  Holding in has become way too familiar. Anxiety hums in the background, exploding in your thoughts… while depression dulls you. And when change invariably arrives, it leaves you unmoored. 

But none of this is normal. Your mind and body are telling you something, offering you signals from the parts of you that need to be heard, and rewritten

Rewriting your myth

Let’s bring it all to the surface. 

We start by slowing down and noticing: The subtle shifts in your body and the words that get woven into these experiences. Tension, tightening, numbness mixed with should’s, never enough’s, and the, what’s the point’s? These aren’t just symptoms or flaws; they’re gateways, calls to transform the stories.

The goal isn’t to “fix” or “solve” anything.

Rather, it’s about noticing, exploring, and pulling on elusive threads. No preparation is required– only honesty, a willingness to feel, and some courage to experiment. This is a space where the complexity of your inner world can unfold without judgment. Emotions are not problems to be solved but experiences to be understood. 

Let’s understand the old myths that no longer serve you, honor the role they’ve played in protecting you, and begin the process of crafting a narrative rooted in discovery and curiosity.

Somatic Psychotherapy

Your body holds the stories that your mind can’t fully express. Some wounds resist words, but your sensations—tensions, contractions, and emotions—can guide you to hidden resources. Through somatic practices, we’ll tune into the messages stored in your muscles, breath, and posture—allowing you to release tension, unspoken grief, and deeply held emotions.

This gentle yet powerful approach helps you reconnect with your body as a source of wisdom, resilience, and strength. Our sensations can be underworld guides, leading us to healing and safety we didn’t know lives inside us.

Gestalt Psychotherapy:

The beliefs you carry about yourself are shaped by relationships and experiences, often rooted in the past. By bringing these patterns into focus, we can begin to integrate the parts of you that feel disconnected and move toward a sense of wholeness.

Gestalt therapy helps us explore the roles and dynamics that keep you stuck. Through present-moment, here-and-now approaches, we’ll work directly with these feelings and behaviors, creating space for them to shift and evolve.

By engaging with the buried roots of shame and self-loathing, we’ll transform them into sources of strength and empowerment, so you can live with greater authenticity, freedom, and self-trust.

The natural world and creative expression are profound tools for transformation, opening pathways to insight, grounding, and healing beyond what words alone can offer. In eco-art therapy, we’ll use the cycles of nature and art-making to process pain and reconnect with a sense of belonging.

This isn’t about creating something beautiful; it’s about creating something honest—a way to express what feels too complex for words.

A single image, stroke of color, or abstract form can reveal stories you’ve carried for years.If materials aren’t your style, we can also explore through metaphor or guided visualizations. Subtle yet powerful, this work helps you access what’s been buried and rediscover your resilience.

Spiritual Psychotherapy:

Spirituality is the thread that connects you to something greater—be it nature, archetypes, or your own inner truth. Together, we’ll weave rituals, symbols, and your personal beliefs into a sacred framework for healing. This is where transformation begins, as myths are rewritten—not as abstract ideas, but as lived, embodied truths that guide your growth.

If you’re drawn to earth-based practices, working with nature and the elements, altar-making, oracle cards, tarot, or astrology, I’m trained in all of these modalities and would be delighted to incorporate them into our work. Even more, I’m deeply curious about your practices and how we can integrate what feels most meaningful to you into your healing journey.

A little about me

Hi I'm Cris, she/they.

And I know firsthand what it’s like to suffer with debilitating negative self-talk caused by trauma (and a side neurodivergence). I’m passionate about helping women, Latinx, queer, gender non-conforming, and trans folks alchemize their harmful scripts, stories, and self-beliefs into the strengths that they really are.

With 17 years of training and experience, I blend Somatic, Gestalt, and Creative Arts Psychotherapy expertise to provide what I call Creative Now Therapy.” We’ll use techniques like mindfulness, body awareness, visualization, nature and art exercises. Together, we’ll identify the obstacles holding you back while facilitating safe interventions to help you access the resources you already have inside.

Transformation can be exciting and a little scary (in a good way.) My approach is focused on being respectful, deeply curious, playful, and engaging. Ultimately, therapy will enhance your ability to get your needs met, make better choices, and move more easily through life’s uncertainty. Best of all, it promotes safety within yourself. I'd love to be a part of helping you feel more alive and excited about your life.
